This is one of the
most inspirational and powerful Domestic Violence awareness Ad I've seen so far, it creates a sense of performance within the
character’s life but yet there is no one, not even a director to say ‘cut’ to
signify the end of the torture she’s facing.
It starts with an
establishing shot of the woman at her place of work; this gives the audience an
idea that this whole Ad is based on her.
She is presented to be a lovely lady, and gets along with her work colleagues,
this is shown when she finishes on set
and is on her way home, a man stops her
to tell her how great she was on t set, she accepts the compliment with a smile
on her face. Then there is a long shot,
showing the whole set up drama stage where she works whilst she runs to her
car, she is presented to be running as thou she is late for something (a
meeting?).
It then cuts to when she’s in the car driving home, there is a
close-up shot of her wiping her make-up off, this gives the audience a funny
feeling as to why she is wiping her make-up off in the car(Enigma Code). Another
shot in this short film is a low angle shot, this is the shot after the lady
parks her car, and she looks up to her apartment and there is a shadow of a
body built man standing looking down at her through the window. This shot could
symbolise the male being dominant and having power over her, whilst the female
character is presented as weak, feeble and vulnerable, there is also an
expression of fear in her eyes as she looks up at him.
