Codes and conventions of Radio Advertisements
There are various types of Advertising in any
media platform. Advertising makes the particular media text that is being
advertised more popular and allows the audiences to be more aware of the actual
product.
As part of my brief, I will create a radio advertisement;
this is to create buzz and excitement for those that listen to the radio,
especially my target audience.
Before actually making the radio advert I have
decided to do some research into the Codes and Conventions of Radio
Advertising, and the features include:
- The advert for whatever media text it is needs to be advertised on well known Radio stations. For example: BBC Radio, LBC, Heart etc.
- The product being advertised should always be made known, clear and understandable for the listeners, if this isn’t done the audience won’t be able to understand or even relate to the subject and importance of the advert.
- The advertisement should last between 30-50seconds approximately, this is usually a good amount of time as the listeners/audience could get bored and tune themselves off.
- There should always be a background music, this gives it a more friendly and entertaining atmosphere for those listening.
- As a cliffhanger, there should be an unanswered question asked relating to the product being advertised, the question should be simple and shouldn’t give too much information away. This is for the audience to have something for their minds to linger on.
